Take Action

Mobile Commons

Mobile Commons allows ALA to send text message alerts to a mobile list. From there, advocates can connect directly to their legislators simply by responding to the text. Mobile Commons also enables ALA  to post click-to-call alerts on our webpages. The alert connects advocates, whether they’re on the mobile list or not, to their legislator’s office simply by entering their phone number on our page and clicking “call.”

Sign up now for Text Alerts! ALA will keep your information confidential and send only critical, periodic text messages about library advocacy opportunities. For more information, download the Mobile Commons FAQ (PDF).

Take Action for the Libraries in Your State!

Two Minutes Can Make a Difference

  • Contact your Member of Congress TODAY and tell them how you use and benefit from the library in your community. Your members of Congress will remember your story - they are relying on you to show them the importance of the library in your community. Most library experiences don't seem dramatic on the surface, but the impact libraries have for real people is significant. Statistics can be impressive, but personal stories bring the library message to life.
