NYT 2006 Librarian of the Year Robin Osborne

NYT Librarian of the Year 2006 Robin Osborne

Robin Osborne

Outreach Services Librarian

Westchester Library, Westchester, New York

Robin was nominated by Susan Gitlitz-Tucker, who wrote: “She believes libraries have to reach out to the unserved, and figure out how to reach and teach them. What an amazing collaborator!” Robin collaborated with the public schools of the Tarrytowns, a local public library, the Junior League of the South Shore and others in order to attract the greatest number of citizens who would benefit most from library services and from her own expertise as a librarian.  She is a beacon to newly arrived immigrants unfamiliar with the concept of a public library and sometimes barely literate in their native language. She is a model of creative, dedicated service for all of us. Robin Osborne.
