Kim from Bossier City, Louisiana

Once upon a time, a little girl dreamed of "owning" a library when she grew up.

Well, I certainly grew up, but I don't "own" a library. However, my story is even more interesting...funny how life is more fun when you just jump on the ride! Currently, I am the Library Media Specialist at a public elementary school in the land of Bossier City, LA.

There are no alligators crawling around our playground, but there are the most amazing children I have ever known. I am privileged to have 750 young patrons ranging in ages from 4-12. My days are spent watching anxious and excited little faces enter the doors looking for that special book to take them to another place. I also am able to teach these sponges all about Dewey Decimal System, Electronic card catalog, Extraordinary authors, genres, and so on and so on and so on.......every single moment a wonder surrounded by thousands of books. The hugs and smiles that I receive make my heart smile and my life richer!!

So, it turns out that I didn't have to "own" a library to live happily ever after...for in the end the fairy tale is complete by my little princes and princesses visiting me daily to see what is new in the world of the Library Media Center!! And we live.....happily ever after! :)
