Ilovelibraries: an initiative of the American Library Association

Ilovelibraries.org is an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA), designed to keep America informed about what’s happening in today’s libraries. Ilovelibraries.org promotes the value of libraries and librarians, explains key issues affecting libraries, and urges readers to support and take action for their libraries.

Ilovelibraries.org is a place to learn more about the health and vitality of today's libraries, emerging trends, and current issues affecting libraries around the country, whether in public, school, academic, corporate or institutional libraries. While intended for the general public, we are encouraging members of the library community to use Ilovelibraries as a tool help them tell the library story when they cannot – 24/7, around the clock.

The American Library Association, the oldest and largest library association in the world with members in academic, public, school, government and special libraries. ALA is a more than 55,000-member-strong organization that seeks to provide leadership for the development, promotion and improvement of library and information services, and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.

ALA's Library Champions: Investing In America's Libraries

ALA’s Library Champion program was launched by a select group of individual, corporate and foundation supporters who joined together to form a broad-based group to advocate for libraries and the library profession. When an individual, company or foundation supports The Libraries Transform Campaign, they make a positive impact on all types of libraries and the lives of their community members every single day.  ALA considers supporters of the Campaign—Library Champions—among our greatest proponents.

The Libraries Transform Campaign is a multi-year public education and advocacy campaign sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country to speak loudly and clearly about the value of libraries in the 21st century. The Campaign now supports thousands of libraries across the nation by fostering public awareness on the extensive range of resources and services available at  public, school, academic and special libraries nationwide.

When an individual, company or foundation supports the Libraries Transform Campaign, they make a positive impact on libraries and the lives of their community members every single day.  Revenue from your annual gift helps every child, young adult or adult who walks through a door at a library or links to their online resources from home or school and provides critical operating support across an array of Libraries Transform Campaign programs such as National Library Week and Library Card Sign-Up Month.

ALA considers supporters of the Campaign—Library Champions—among our greatest proponents. Individuals, companies and foundations can become a Library Champion by making a $5,000 contribution or more to support the Libraries Transform, one of ALA’s most successful public awareness and advocacy programs.
